HTC Droid Incredible Low Memory Fix "Gingerbread"

HTC Droid Incredible Low Memory Fix

HTC Droid Incredible "Low Memory" after initial Droid GingerBread Update 2.3.4 4.06.605.3

HTC Droid Incredible Low on Space issues.

BTW Mine is the Verizon HTC Droid Incredible .... Not the Incredible S / IncredibleS or the new ones.

Big issue going on with the "low on storage" notification coming up when there really is storage space available. I am thinking this was due to the update 4.06.605.3 shown in Settings > About Phone > Software Information.

If you have been promoted by an OTA update (Over The Air) for 4.08.605.2 make sure you do it... This has fixed my Low Memory issues..

If for some reason yours will not complete the update because of low memory you can try these steps to get it done...

****Warning We are not responsible for your phone do these at your own risk this worked for us, but as always YMMV.****

Make Sure you Battery is fully
charged. And you really should be plugged in during any update.

Make sure you have backups of any thing important to you. (ie. Photos, Contacts, messages..... what ever else you can think of)

Boot into recovery by:

Press and hold Power, Choose "Restart" option (If you don't have this just shut down)

When screen turns off, press and hold Volume Down and Power

When the white HBOOT screen appears, use the volume button to move down to
“RECOVERY.”

Press the Power button to select “RECOVERY.”

When the triangle and exclamation appears, hold the Volume Up and Power button at
the same time.

Using the volume button, scroll down to “Wipe cache partition” and select it.
Select "Reboot system now"

Then try the update there are instructions below to force the OTA update.

Force phone to check for update.

Manually change the date on your phone one month in advance. So if its November change it to December. This will trigger an automatic check in with the update servers and you will get the appropriate update.

Go To Menu > Settings > Date and Time

Un-check Automatic to prevent the date and time from automatically updating

Change the date to one month from today (under Set Date)

Go back to the main settings and select About Phone > Check For Update the first time you do this it will say your phone is up to date.. That is expected arrow back to about phone then > System Updates again and it should start the OTA download for 4.08.605.2 follow the prompts for the update.

If for some reason your phone still refuses to update due to low memory issues or prompts... You may have to remove so app's in order to force the update.

If that is the case remove some of the apps and start from the top with the Wipe cache partition.. It is tedious and I my self had to do this 3 times to get it to work.. But it is worth it unless you want to ROOT your HTC Incredible and use a custom ROM...
