Canon's newest Full Frame Camera Specifications leaked So I am not just a Geek if you follow me and look at some of the links around this blog you know I am an aspiring photographer as well. :) I guess you could say I am a professional seeing as though I have been contracted for paid shoots as well as the charity and non-paid stuff. Vizio VTab1008 Bad Skype

So I got the Android Vizio VTab1008 running Gingerbread 2.3.2 for a couple of reasons.

First cause it was cheap

Second is because the Vizio 8" Tablet has GPS and bluetooth.

GPS is some what important seeing that I would like to get rid of my dedicated GPS for the truck and minimize some toys. :)

and For Skype and Google+...

First off the Vizio Vtab1008 is really a good running tablet I like the capacitive 8" screen it just works. Hated the launcher it came with but Go Launcher works great from the market.

Three Problems I have found that will make me put it up for sale on craigslist unless Vizio comes out with HoneyComb or Ice Cream Sandwich for the VTab1008 and fixes these issues.

1. the vizio vtab1008 and skype do not get along .. you can make a video call but you will have to turn the tablet upside down for your image to show up correctly on the other side of the conversation.

2. Adobe Flash... 10.1 on the Vizio Vtab1008... come on ... Vizio get with the updates here... I know it is optimized for the tablet... but some flash will not work specifically in Google+ Tried watching +Thomas Hawk last night with +Lotus and no dice... could not do it.. BIG PROBLEM here..

3. internal memory of the Vizio Vtab1008 whats left over to use from the 4GB internal is mapped to mnt/sdcard ... that is just stupid.. you can not put apps on the real SD card.. kills some functionality.. so now your real SD card is sdcard/external.

Come on Vizio lets get some lovein for the user community here... oh and this should really grind on you But the Pandigital Planet ... Can Do all of the things I have mentioned here (no bluetooth or gps though) but it will do Skype, Flash and the SD card and memory are mapped correctly. :) ... And it is Cheaper and has a slower processor

Vizio blocked that capability with the latest upgrade to their rom ver 1.5 still shows 1.4 in sys info but the build 1.9.57 will tell you you are locked out of rooting this table.

8" Android Tablet Model 80461

So there is not much information on this little Unbranded MID tablet so I will try and fill in some of the blanks.

First off there is nothing on the box or in the manual as far as what brand this is or even the manufacturer. How they got a Google certification for Android Market I have no clue. Especialy when the Pandigital Tablets are 100 times better and work great.

System info Shows the Model number as 80461
What you have is a Wonder Media 8650 or

a WM8650 this is an 800Mhz CPU

There are forums that are dedicated to they WM8650 Android tablets but none I have found to be much help with this "marvel of engineering".

Basically it is a resistive touch screen Android tablet running Froyo 2.2
The screen looks nice and the music and video players are basic and work correctly Divx movies and TV shows play fine with the built in video player but YMMV.

The rest of the tablet is SLOW... and that is an understatement.

Do not even try to play Angry Birds on this WM8650 either or you may be shooting it out of sling shot like one of the Birds... It is nothing but frustrating.

Now there is hope for this little 8" 80461 but I have not tested it and you may want to be cautious doing this as well but there is a commuinty that has come up with a modified ROM for it. They are Tech Know

Before you Run off and hit their site Flashing the ROM and stuff here are a few things you should know... *** Could Brick your semi-functional tablet ****

There is no FastBoot or Recovery on boot... All manner of powering on with volume + or volume - work.

There is no recovery boot at all ... if you jack up the tablet there is no recovery that I could find. Including no Manufacturers web site to go to to download a new ROM.

So if you are brave and want a faster Android experience on this MID head over to Tech Know... and Just remember that the creator is HCH... Good luck.

HP Envy 14 Spectre At CES

As I mentioned before that CES would be filled with UltrBooks from different manufacturers trying to capture the same market place that Apple has had for the last couple of years with the MacBook Air. HP not to be left behind came out with the Envy 14 Spectre. Basically a thin and light notebook targeted at the small business market. Almost fully clad in Gorilla Glass..

"Glass who puts glass on a Notebook????"

Ok HP says that using Gorilla Glass will make the laptop more scratch resistant. But is it Shatter Prof??? I mean if Bump my MacBook Pro against the corner of a desk and it gets a dent in it I may be able to live with that ... but if you bump the HP Envy with the same corner will it shatter????

Other info that was released is no dedicated graphics chip??? Come on sounds like an over grown NetBook... With SSD hard drive and Beats Audio included ..

all for around 1399$ USD... little expensive for a NetBook if you ask me.. :)

With Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system

While the previous version ran on Honeycomb and utilized a dual-core Qualcomm 8260-1.2Ghz CPU, the Asus 370T will ship with Ice Cream Sandwich and houses a quad-core Tegra 3. No word yet on the actual speed of the processor, though. The previously announced stylus peripheral has been dropped for the device.

The Asus 370T will (if its not vaporware ;) ) with 1GB of RAM and at least 16GB of storage. It also sports a 1,280x800-pixel IPS screen that delivered smoothly scrolling menus. Has very similar, dimensions to the Acer Iconia Tab A100. The 370T even hits the typical-for-a-7-inch-tablet weight of 0.88 pound, right on the nose.

Front facing 1.2 megapixel camera and 8-megapixel rear camera ..

Eric Franklin got to play a bit with the Possible 249$ Asus 7 inch Tablet at CES and the photos show a different story... but then again this could just be the proto type.

Not Really that much to show up front no hard buttons... great size but I am partial to the 7 inch tablets. There is suppose to be a front facing camera .. but can't see it from this shot.

Looks like a couple of speaker cut outs on the back straddling the rear facing camera notice on the top is power or is that head phone jack? and on the left looks like volume rocker and maybe the ON/OFF button.

WHOOO SD card slot or proprietary plug for power?? mini USB?? No HDMI out???? WTF .. not that I ever use HDMI on my tablets... kinda something that may be missing ... I'm sure this is pre-production and a proto type but.. really???
