Consumers File Official Complaint agains Hewlett-Packard Co.

"Chinese consumers have files an official complaint against Hewlett-Packard Co. (HPQ) over faulty laptop computers."

Well is this not fitting ... seeing that this blog has been working on the DV series for months now.

Reuters continues to report on the 10th of March 2010 that:

"Jiang Suhua, a lawyer at Yingke Law Firm in

Beijing, told Reuters the complaint centered on video cards which overheated and caused the laptop to malfunction.

He said that around 170 Chinese sent the complaint on Friday to the country's quality control watchdog agency, General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine.

Jiang said the problems dated back as far as 2007 in some cases.

When contacted by Reuters, HP said in a statement it had a program in November 2007 to offer a free repair for customers with affected HP notebooks. It declined to comment directly on the complaint.

Jiang said the group wanted the government to investigate and order HP to recall all faulty laptops in China.

"Yes, we can bring it to court, but right now it has not reached that stage," he said.

HP generates more than three-fifths of its revenue outside its U.S. home base. Last month, it said sales from fast-growing emerging countries Brazil, Russia, India and China leapt 41 percent from a year ago.

Spoof or Truth New Egg Shipping Fake i7 Proceesors

This would really tick me off if I ordered say the Core i7-870 off of New Egg for aroung 569.99 and opend the box and got

what Hardpoc is reporting to be a Demo Box. Or even as they are reporting the Intel Core i7-920 at a retail price of 288.99.

From Hardocp's web site from New Eggs Public Relations here is the responce:
"Newegg is aware of a shipping error that occurred with certain recent orders of the Intel Core i7-920 CPU. After investigating the issue internally it appears one of our long term partners mistakenly shipped a small number of demo boxes instead of functional units. Our customer service team has already begun proactively reaching out to the affected customers. In line with our commitment to ensure total customer satisfaction, we are doing everything in our power to resolve the issue as soon as possible and with the least amount of inconvenience to our customers."

As mentioned yesterday on FriendFeed and Twitter.. My Blogs are out of hand CE's GeekBook really needs Focus. So with that in mind I have created CE's Photography and I am in the process of migrating any and all Photography related posts over to the new site. I know that I will probably loose some readers in the migration but hope fully in the end things will be better for it.

DV2000 What's behind the LCD

HP Pavilion DV2000 behind the LCD

This post is in response to an email I received from JT his question was:

The right hand-side wi-fi cable was suddenly chopped off. Actually, looking at one end, it looked like it was sliced off. My question is...where does it go? into the LCD panel like the left wi-fi cable? Is this fixable or am I going to be permanently relegated to an external wireless adapter?

Well to answer JT's question here

a shot of the inside of the top case where the HP dv2000 lcd lives.



As you can see the LCD panel has been removed already and I have traced where the Wi-Fi cables for the DV2000 internal wi-fi card run up each side of the panel. They should be replaceable.. and or you could try and splice the cable back together and tape it with electrical tape just make sure you have enough length to route it back to the bottom of the case where the card lives.



In this one I have circled the Microphones for the DV2000 at the top and the Web Cam location.

Down at the bottom you can see where the HP DV2000 LCD inverter lives in the case.
