How to take apart HP Pavilion dv2000 series notebook / laptop Part 3

Tear down Guide for the DV series laptops from HP and Compaq

This is a quick post showing a DV2000 tear-down.

Level of experience needed: Advanced (this is not to say anyone should not be able to do this it will just take more time)

By now you have removed the Keyboard, LCD panel, and the Top Chassis with the track pad.... on to removing the system board it self.

Part 1 can be found HERE

And Part 2 can be found HERE

Start by removing the screw in the left speaker assembly and the screw in the chassis.

Dis-connect the cable from the speaker to the system board and there is another connection right next to it for the sleep button that was hidden under the LCD panel.

****Note be very careful with all of the cables in the machine .. they will break very easily and you will be left with bits of plastic and pins ... not a happy camper IMO (been there done that)****

here is a shot from above with the speaker assembly removed you can see there are only a few more things to take care of before the system board will just pop right out.

Move down to the bottom and you will need to remove the screws for the Wi-Fi switch this also controls the Bluetooth in the system (if it has Bluetooth built in). You can leave it connected to the system-board at this time if you like I found no reason to remove it .. Unless you are actually replacing the system board it self.

Now remove the cable from the system board that goes to the IR / Headphones jacks.. I have not had to remove this board either.. But there is a screw hiding under the cable on the left side. when pulling the system board out make sure you clear this cable though ..

Next is the power cable and the data cable from the usb on the right side ... gently remove these from the system board.

Disconnect the cable from the modem board and take the tape holding it down off. You will need to clear this cable as well when you are pulling out the system board...

It's now time lift up on the system board from the right side ... make sure it clears the fan chassis.. and all of the component slots on the left side .. gently pull to the right and Viola....

You have successfully removed the system board.

To put it back .. just follow the directions in reverse order.

Good luck in all of your endeavors..
